The Regional Conference on the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS), organised by the EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, was held in Kutaisi. Ekaterine Bendeliani, Deputy Director of the EIEC, and Lela Mamrikishvili, Inclusive Economic Development Program Officer of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), opened the meeting.
To establish regional platforms for agricultural knowledge and innovation, the conference aimed to bring together key stakeholders. A demonstration of the tools required to set up the project's demonstration plots, which were obtained by the Rural Development Agency, was part of the event as well.
Representatives from Akaki Tsereteli State University, the Administrative Service of Guria and Imereti Regions, municipalities, colleges, and the Extension Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara attended the meeting.
The conference was held within the framework of the EIEC project “Modernisation of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) System in Agriculture of Georgia (Phase 3),” which is implemented by the EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, with the support of the Swiss Development Agency (SDC) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
